Strictly fans confused as Katya Jones appears in results show group dance after testing positive for coronavirus

STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left confused this evening as Katya Jones appeared in the results show group dance after testing positive for coronavirus.

The professional dancer and her celebrity partner Nicola Adams were sensationally axed from the competition earlier this week following the diagnosis.

So viewers were baffled when they spotted the 31-year-old beauty front and centre in this evening's opener.

Taking to Twitter, one stunned fan asked: "How is Katya dancing in the opening dance when she tested positive for corona?"

Another wrote: "How is Katya in the #Strictly professionals dance? I thought she had COVID."

One more echoed: "I just realised. Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't Katya be self isolating? Or is that finished? #Strictly"

A fourth tweeted: "Will they explain why Katya’s dancing while supposedly self-isolating?"

However, there is a simple explanation – with host Tess Daly explaining that all of the group performances were recorded before the show's launch while the dancers lived together in a coronavirus-secure bubble.

The group quarantine allowed the dancers to break social distancing with one another so they could get up close and personal during the routines.

It means that all of the performers will feature in the group dances going forward – no matter what happens going forward.

Which is a relief for BBC bosses, with the show being plunged into chaos this week after Katya's positive test.

The strict health and safety rules surrounding the ongoing pandemic meant that she and Nicola had to immediately leave the competition so that they could complete their two-week quarantine.

In addition, judge Motsi Mabuse will also have to miss the next two shows in keeping with the government's self-isolation rules after she made an emergency trip to her home in Germany this week.

Anton Du Beke stepped in as a temporary judge, with viewers being so impressed that they called for him to return full-time.
