'90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way': Fans React to Brittany's Choice of Attire in Jordan

When Brittany Banks went out for a stroll in a local Jordanian market with her friend, Angela, she was heckled for her appearance. And after seeing what her boyfriend Yazan Abo Horaira and his family have been saying about their conservative culture,  90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans weren’t at all surprised by the reaction she received.

Brittany knows Yazan comes from a very conservative culture

From the very beginning of Yazan and Brittany’s 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way journey, fans have seen the two clash over their cultures. During Brittany’s last trip to Jordan, she got into a huge fight with Yazan at the airport because she had alcohol in her bag and because she hugged a producer.

“It’s not like alcohol is not accepted here,” Brittany told producers. “Of course I respect his culture and his choices. But at the same time, I am not Muslim.”

However, when going to meet Yazan’s parents, Brittany was respectful. And per his wishes, she wore a hijab and modest clothes during her visit.

But later in the season, Yazan’s family saw a revealing photo Brittany posted on social media. And they tried to pressure her to take it down and convert to Islam. But Brittany confessed she had no intention of changing herself.

“I’m not gonna let them bully me into deleting my social media, and even give them the thought that they have any kind of authority over me,” she told producers. “I leave my social media up on purpose, just to show them that I don’t care what they say, I’m going to lead my own life.”

On ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,’ Brittany gets heckled in a Jordanian market

On a recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Brittany, who was upset with Yazan over a fight they had, headed out to a local market with Angela. But because of her low cut blouse, Brittany started receiving negative comments from the men passing by.

At one point, a man heckled Brittany, calling her “haram,” which means a “sin” in Arabic. She snapped back by calling him “haram,” and continued walking. But soon, both she and Angela began feeling uncomfortable with the unwanted attention.

“Brittany and I are getting a lot of looks as we walk through the market,” Angela told producers. “It’s just like a little uncomfortable. The other women are covered while Brittany has her boobs out. So, I think that’s causing, like, a lot of looks.”

“I can definitely see now why Yazan wants me to cover up,” Brittany confessed. “People are just staring at me, so I’m not comfortable right now.”

’90 Day Fiancé’ fans react to Brittany and Angela’s outing

After seeing Brittany get heckled in the Jordanian market, some 90 Day Fiancé fans lauded her for being a feminist. One Reddit user, who lived in the Middle East, applauded the reality star for staying true to herself.

“As a middle eastern woman, I totally support Brittany’s choice in wearing whatever the f**k she wants,” the Redditor wrote. “You can say she was ‘disrespecting the culture,’ but if part of a country’s “culture” involves oppressing and intimidating women for their choice of attire, then that deserves to be challenged IMO. Women in Jordan and the rest of the middle east should have the freedom to wear what they like without fear whether that’s a niqab or a tank top.”

“I see a lot of comments of people claiming to be feminist yet slamming Brittany for what she wore,” another Reddit user added. “The dissonance is astounding.”

But not all fans were convinced this was a feminist statement. Some insisted she only wore the outfit to annoy Yazan. And others suggested it was because she didn’t care.

“Let’s be clear though, she’s not doing it to stand up for women’s rights, it’s because she’s disrespectful and does not give af,” one Redditor expressed.

“Yeah, she’s just being a brat,” another user added. “No where In the way she’s acting or In the things she says do I see any evidence of her doing anything but trying to p*ss off Yazan.”

But overall, most fans felt that regardless of why Brittany wore what she did, it was probably not a safe call. “It not about respecting in that area, its a matter of safety because they DONT tolerate there,” a Reddit fan pointed out. “For all we know the only they kept her safe was a camera crew following her around.”
