Bude Post Office praised for touching Christmas advert ‘better than John Lewis’

A local post office in Cornwall has received high praise for its emotional Christmas advert, with fans of the short film saying that it’s ‘better than John Lewis’.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve witnessed big brands go head to head in a bid to launch festive campaigns that are as moving as they are memorable.

From Coca-Cola’s Christmas advert about a man’s desperate journey back home to his family to Amazon’s story of a young ballerina whose performance is cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, several companies have succeeded in catching us in the feels.

But some believe that one of this year’s best adverts comes from Bude Post Office, the local business’s short film telling the tale of two young girls unable to spend time with their grandmother due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The film opens with two young girls waving to their grandmother as they make their way to school, the gates located close to her front door.

After school, they rush to their grandmother’s house, where they bake together, blowing flour into the air as they mess around in the kitchen.

On a different day after school, the young girls are taken by their grandmother to the playground, while on another occasion, they play cards together at home.

However, following the closure of schools across England, the sisters have to remain at home, unable to see their grandmother as they usually would.

As the elderly woman is filmed looking forlornly out of the window, the sisters are shown sitting at home, seemingly bored without their grandmother’s company.

So their mother encourages them to write a letter to their grandmother, which helps to lift her spirits before she’s able to see her grandchildren in person again.

The short film ends with the tagline: ‘You’re never alone. From all of us at Bude Post Office.’

Since being shared on Facebook by the post office earlier this month, the video has garnered hundreds of reactions and comments, with numerous people praising the post office for its stirring advert.

‘Amazing! Crying my eyes out now! Well done Bude Post Office!’ one person said.

‘Love this. Best Christmas ad seen this year yet!’ another viewer said.

Someone else wrote that the short film made her cry, stating: ‘I’m a grandma too and miss being able to do those little things during this dreadful pandemic.’

‘Better than John Lewis any day,’ another Facebook user remarked.

Several people also thanked the workers of Bude Post Office for supporting the local community.

‘You really are an amazing post office. Such lovely people. Very helpful and caring,’ one person said.

‘Thank you for all you do for the local community. You are amazing!!’ another wrote.

The post office wrote a comment underneath the advert on Facebook saying that they were ‘overwhelmed’ by the support and views the short film has received.

Charli and Dixie D’Amelio Post Pic With Chef Aaron May After YouTube Dinner Drama

FYI for everyone keeping up with that Charli and Dixie D’Amelio dinner drama, Us Weekly reports that Charli posted a photo of them reuniting with personal Chef Aaron May (and, notably, a chicken nugget)—showing there are zero bad vibes after they came under fire for their treatment of him in a YouTube series called Dinner With the D’Amelios.

As a reminder in case you don’t make a habit of keeping up with TikTok drama, fans accused Charli and Dixie of being rude to Chef May after he cooked their family dinner (which included snails) and they made vomiting faces / asked for dinosaur chicken nuggets.

Charli, Dixie, and Chef May have since explained that the snail bit was done on purpose (#CONTENT!) to gross Dixie out, and that no offense was caused. “Someone on production thought it would be funny to feed Dixie and Charli snails,” May told The Hollywood Fix. “They didn’t take it the best. I love Dixie and Charli, I’ve worked with them before, I’m going to work with them again. Those girls are the greatest, I love them. It was all fun and games.”

Dixie also explained that her team knows she throws up easily and wanted to “get her” in footage that wasn’t included in the video:

While Charli tearfully said “You can hate on me for whatever I’ve done, but the fact that all of this is happening because of a misunderstanding, like, I just feel like that’s not okay. And if this is the community that I’m in and the community that I put myself in, I don’t know if I want to do that anymore.”

Post Malone Reveals Which Rapper Was 'Terrible' At Beer Pong

“He came backstage at the show in Toronto and we started playing beer pong. And I was just like, ‘Man, he sucks.'”

Post Malone has challenged many celebs to a game of beer pong — and he has now revealed one star was shockingly bad.

During a virtual appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Friday night, the singer confessed that Drake was “terrible” at the drinking game.

Billboard Music Awards 2020: Complete Winners List

“Drake’s no good,” Post told Fallon. “He came backstage at the show in Toronto and we started playing beer pong. And I was just like, ‘Man, he sucks.'”

The 25-year-old rapper then directed a message at Drake, offering him a chance at redemption.

“If you see this, come meet me again, we’ll play again,” Post explained, before reiterating to Fallon, “But he was terrible.”

The 6-time Grammy nominee also recalled playing a game of beer pong with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and 2020 Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.

“He challenged me,” Post said. “I was so game. I was like, ‘Let’s go.’ We were backstage, I think we were in KC. And Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce walk in and they were like, ‘Let’s play some pong.'”

While Post was confident in his skills, noting that he’s “the best player,” Mahomes and Kelce kept beating him. Despite this, the “Sunflower” singer decided to raise the stakes.

“I said, ‘If you win, I’ll get a tattoo of the Kansas City Chiefs logo and y’alls autograph on my arm as well,'” Post recalled.

Although the “Circles” crooner ultimately lost, he lived up to his promise and got the tattoos. Post proved he wasn’t lying and showed off the ink to the camera.

“That’s the good stuff right there!” Post said as he revealed the tattoos. “This is on me forever.”

Also on Friday night, Fallon challenged Post to every drinking game ever, including beer pong, Never Have I Ever and flip cup.

Twitter, Facebook censor Post over Hunter Biden exposé

Both Twitter and Facebook took extraordinary censorship measures against The Post on Wednesday over its exposés about Hunter Biden’s emails — and leveled baseless accusations the reports used “hacked materials.”

The suppression effort came despite presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaign merely denying that he had nothing on his “official schedules” about meeting a Ukrainian energy executive in 2015 — along with zero claims that his son’s computer had been hacked.

The Post’s primary Twitter account was locked as of 2:20 p.m. Wednesday because its articles about the messages obtained from Biden’s laptop broke the social network’s rules against “distribution of hacked material,” according to an email The Post received from Twitter.

Twitter also blocked users from sharing the link to the Post article indicating that Hunter Biden introduced Joe Biden to the Ukrainian businessman, calling the link “potentially harmful.”

“In line with our Hacked Materials Policy, as well as our approach to blocking URLs, we are taking action to block any links to or images of the material in question on Twitter,” a Twitter spokesperson told The Post in a statement.

The company said it took the step because of the lack of authoritative reporting on where the materials included in The Post’s story originated.

Trump campaign uses Post exposé to blast Bidens for ‘blatant selling of access’

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s re-election campaign on Wednesday accused Hunter Biden of “blatant selling of access” to his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, in the wake of a bombshell cache of documents about the family’s foreign dealings exposed by The Post.

“The way that this entire operation is set up to make money off of Joe Biden for decades has been ignored for far too long,” Trump 2020 senior advisor Jason Miller said during a call with reporters, labelling the influential family “Biden Inc” and calling for greater scrutiny of their business dealings.

A 2015 email obtained by The Post reveals that Hunter Biden introduced his father to Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, while he served on its board and earned a reported salary of up to $50,000 a month.

The following year, the elder Biden pressured government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company.

The correspondence, which flies in the face of the Democratic nominee’s claim that he has “never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings’, is contained in a tranche of data recovered from a discarded laptop that reportedly belonged to Hunter Biden.

“I think that this is probably just the tip of the iceberg for the close look at the Biden family business,” Miller speculated on Wednesday.
