President Trump on Monday said that the White House is preparing for a “very nice event” to swear in Amy Coney Barrett as a Supreme Court justice.
Barrett is all but guaranteed confirmation by the Republican-held Senate on Monday evening. It’s unclear when exactly the subsequent White House event will happen.
“We’re going to see [an event] probably at the White House later on this evening,” Trump told reporters during a campaign trip to Pennsylvania.
Trump said it would be a small event — after many attendees of Barrett’s Sept. 26 unveiling in the Rose Garden, including Trump, caught COVID-19.
“No, not a large event. Just a very nice event,” Trump said.
Barrett, 48, will be Trump’s third confirmed justice on the nine-person court — a frequent campaign-trail boast ahead of the Nov. 3 election. She will replace liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg, potentially shifting the ideological balance of the court for decades.
Barrett is a favorite among religious conservatives and emerged unscathed from Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings. The top Democrat on the committee, Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, enraged fellow Democrats by saying it was “one of the best set of hearings that I have participated in.”
Barrett, an Indiana resident and judge on the US Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, contracted COVID-19 earlier this year and is believed to be immune.
It’s unclear if Vice President Mike Pence will attend the ceremony at the White House. Five Pence aides, including his chief of staff Marc Short, reportedly were diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past week. Pence has been testing negative for the virus.
Prince Harry is speaking out about how his wife, Duchess Meghan, has opened his eyes to the bleak reality of bias and racism.
During a new conversation with activist Patrick Hutchinson for British GQ, the Duke of Sussex revealed that he wasn’t aware of the all-encompassing effects of racial bias until he met Meghan years ago. During her time as a working member of the royal family and even since stepping away from the monarchy, Meghan has prioritized highlighting racism and the fight for gender equality through her work.
“You can’t really point fingers, especially when it comes to unconscious bias. But once you realize or you feel a little bit uncomfortable, then the onus is on you to go out and educate yourself, because ignorance is no longer an excuse,” said the duke during the conversation, speaking on where racism stems from. “And unconscious bias, from my understanding, having the upbringing and the education that I had, I had no idea what it was. I had no idea it existed. And then, sad as it is to say, it took me many, many years to realize it, especially then living a day or a week in my wife’s shoes.”
Harry continued, acknowledging that his recent relocation to the United States along with Meghan and their young son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, in the midst of a racial reckoning within the country has helped him better understand the plight for a fairer society.
“I think one of the most dangerous things is people within positions of power, whether it’s politics or whether it’s the media, where if you’re not aware of your own bias and you’re not aware of the culture within your system, then how are we ever going to progress? How are we ever going to get to that point where there is more fairness? Because it’s not a zero-sum game, right? Everyone benefits if the Black community gets treated the way they should be treated,” continued Harry. “Every day is a learning process. And it’s not actually up for debate. These are the facts. This is what’s happening. And it’s been very interesting for me to sit through or live through this in America.”
The duke and Hutchinson—who are both fathers—also related to each other in that they want to build a better future for their children.
“It’s going to take every single one of us to really change things and anyone that’s pushing against it really needs to take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror. Because as I said, this isn’t Black versus white. As you quite rightly pointed out, now in 2020 we have protesters of every color, every background, every religion, every age. This is a global movement,” said the duke. “The train has left the station. If you’re not on it now, then get on it because there’s so much that we can do. And being a dad myself, the whole point in life, I guess, for me, is to try to leave the world in a better place than when you found it.”
DONALD Trump has slammed Joe Biden after he "couldn't remember" his name and mistook the president for George Bush.
The 77-year-old was speaking to supporters at a virtual concert as he continues to shun large rallies over coronavirus fears.

Biden appeared to stumble over his words as he said the Democrat campaign was fighting against "four more years of George".
His wife Jill then appears to quietly correct him under her breath, and Biden went back to saying "Trump".
Following the fumble, Trump slammed his opponent on Twitter on Monday morning.
"Joe Biden called me George yesterday. Couldn’t remember my name. Got some help from the anchor to get him through the interview. The Fake News Cartel is working overtime to cover it up!" he wrote.
The Vice President's gaffes and stumbles are often seized upon by his Republican rival as signs that he is not fit to govern – branding him "Sleepy Joe".
Biden said: "Four more years of George – we're going to find ourselves in a position where, if Trump gets elected, we're going to be in a different world,"
It is believed Biden confused Trump with Bush, who was president from 2001 to 2009.
Biden has been open about suffering a lifelong stutter, and often trips over his words – but Trump campaigners have suggested his gaffes are signs he is going senile.
The VP has previously forgotten Mitt Romney's name, claimed 200million Americans have died of Covid-19, and repeatedly said he is running for "Senate" in 2020.
His latest stumble was picked up by Trump War Room, a Trump campaign Twitter account regularly re-tweeted by the President.
It shared the clip with its almost one million followers, and it was retweeted nearly 10,000 times and liked more than 21,000 times.
Trump supporter and former Republican congresswoman Dr Nan Hayworth, who previously compared voting for Biden as voting for the Third Reich, claimed the clip showed the Democrat had "clear signs of dementia".
Dr Hayworth said: "That's it. Mr Biden shows clear signs of dementia. This is tonight. This is why they're keeping him under a lid.
"There's no way Mr Biden could forget the name of the CURRENT President, the one against whom he is running, unless he lacked full cognitive function.
"He lacks it."
Trump mocked Biden with a campaign poster showing the Democrat in a care home two weeks ago.
He shared the photoshopped image of Biden surrounded by elderly people in wheelchairs to Twitter .
The photo was accompanied by the words "Biden for President" with the "P" crossed out – meaning it read "Biden for Resident".
Trump lashed out after Biden misspoke on the campaign trail, forgetting Romney's name and mistakenly saying he was running for the Senate in what the President called a "bad day" for his rival.
Biden – if elected – would be the oldest president ever to serve in the White House.
But the same is true of if Trump is re-elected aged 74.
The Democrat has previously laughed off concerns over his mental capacity but acknowledged its a "legitimate" concern.
Speaking on World News Tonight on ABC in August, Biden said: "I think it's a legitimate question to ask anybody over 70 years old whether or not they're fit and whether they're ready.
"But I just, only thing I can say to the American people, it's a legitimate question to ask anybody. Watch me."
Trump outright claimed Biden had dementia earlier this month, saying it was "obvious and rapidly getting worse".
He added: "If I did any of this, it would be disqualifying. With him, he’s just Sleepy Joe!"
Trump also praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese premier Xi Jinping and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un as "100 per cent sharp" when comparing them to Biden.
Biden is currently ahead in the national polls by up to ten points going into November 3, but Trump secured an upset win coming from behind when he beat Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Trump has been on the attack with election just over a week away, railing against his predecessor Barack Obama after he stepped up to campaign for Biden.
The President said: "They had 42 people! He drew flies, did you ever hear the expression? Obama drew flies.
"Barack Hussein Obama arrived to help Sleepy Joe because Sleepy Joe is only capable of doing one of these every three or four days."
Trump continued to rage against his predecessor, claiming Obama refused to endorse Biden before and after he won the Democratic nomination.
"After he won, he wouldn’t endorse him, you know why? Because Obama was in shock that this guy won," Trump said.
Trump's attacks on Saturday night came after Obama trolled him for “low ratings” as he ripped into his successor in a fiery speech in support of Biden.
Obama also roasted Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, claiming the president “doesn’t have a plan" as US cases hit a new high of 81,417 on Friday.
MIKE TYSON has revealed he hated Michael Jackson’s guts after a backstage snub at one of the pop icon’s concerts.
The boxing legend is currently preparing for his in-ring comeback aged 54 in an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr next month.
During his heyday of the late 80s and early 90s, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ was one of the most-recognisable and biggest names in the world
One man that enjoyed just as much popularity and spotlight was the late ‘King of Pop’ Jackson.
However, Tyson has admitted he held a lot of anger towards the musician until the pair did eventually hang out.
Speaking on T.I.’s expediTIously podcast, the former world champion said: “I met Mike one day, I think he was at a concert in Cleveland, I’m with Don King.
“So me and Don come in, right? And I’m champ and everything, did all this s***, undisputed.
“So Don goes and Don gives Michael Jackson the ‘peace’ sign, like this. And then so Michael gives Don the ‘peace’ sign, and so I give Michael the ‘peace’ sign, and Michael put his hand down.
“In a way, I say, ‘Did he play me? Nah, he didn’t play me, he just didn’t see me. I knew he didn’t play me, cause I’m f***ing champ.”
Tyson and King continued to go backstage for the show – but the disrespect continued.
He continued: “So we went backstage, right? So I’m backstage, and so there’s his backstage, some of his singers and stuff.
“He’s on stage, it’s over I’m signing autographs and stuff, so Michael comes over and he talks to Don, he doesn’t talk to me. … I say ‘Let me just go on and meet Mike’, cause that’s really why I’m here, I want to meet Mike.
“And then I go over to meet Mike, … and he goes like this, ‘Don’t I know you from somewhere? Where I know you from?’
“He broke my ego, he crushed me.
“I said ‘No, I’m just a fan, pleasure to meet you, sir. He said, ‘OK’, and then he got out and went in the car.”
Tyson admitted he refused to let go of the snub for years until Jackson finally invited him to hang out – an offer initially rejected by the fighter.
He added: “I said ‘OK I’m coming, I’ll be over there’, right?
“So I got on a plane, went over there, hung out, and we just started hanging out together. And I said ‘F*** man, he’s a good guy.
“But in my mind, I said ‘Why’d you play me though, Mike, why’d you play me like that? You knew who I was, why’d you play me?’”
MICHAIL ANTONIO has revealed he is learning Spanish to speak to his team-mates – and now he wants his team-mates to educate themselves on diversity too.
The West Ham star has formed close friendships with Pablo Fornals and Angelo Ogbonna, and says they muddle through speaking English on nights out.
But Antonio admits it is unfair to expect footballers around the globe to automatically speak English, and is doing something about it in his spare time.
And in a video as part of the Premier League’s No Room For Racism campaign, he says it is also time his friends open their minds to understanding other cultures.
Antonio, 30, said: “Everyone all over the world can be in one changing room, can get along.
“Some of my closest friends are Angelo Ogbonna, who's Italian, and Pablo Fornals who is Spanish. His English is good but is not proper.
“There's enough for me to understand what he's got to say and we can go out and have a meal and be able to speak to each other through it so it is quality.
“I'm trying to learn Spanish now – I feel like because of these players that are coming in.
"I shouldn't just expect them to speak English, even though we are in England.
“I feel that I should try and make an effort to learn how they speak.”
The striker, who is hoping to lead the line for the Hammers against Manchester City this week, spoke out on a video for the Premier League Primary Stars Programme, delivering educational messages to classrooms across the country.
And his message to youngsters who are subjected to taunts or abuse is clear.
He said: “The majority of times I'll just say to them 'look, they're idiots, do not let them affect you in any way shape or form’.
“They're just not educated, you move on, you live your life. Show them that you can be better than them.
“The only thing you can do is hope that that person can educate themselves.
“Obviously I've been friends with loads of white people and there's certain things that happen and even though they're constantly around black people, they still don't understand.
“So maybe they can also educate themselves as well.”
*These free teaching materials are designed to help stimulate discussion in classrooms and will be available to more than 18,000 primary schools in England and Wales through Premier League Primary Stars.
The resources will also be made available via the Premier League Kicks and Inspires programmes.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Since Derek Jeter and David Ortiz hit 40, Major League Baseball has searched far and wide for its next face of the game. They just might have landed on that face Tuesday, and for that they can credit … free tacos?
This argument, like free tacos, might require a little more time to digest. Know this, however: When I Googled Mookie Betts’ name on Wednesday morning, the autofill took me to “Mookie Betts Taco Tuesday.”
Yes, the old fogies’ sport experienced a viral moment on Tuesday night. For not only did Betts put together a superlative performance to lead the Dodgers over the Rays, 8-3, in World Series Game 1 at Globe Life Field, but when he stole second base in the fifth inning, he won every American a free taco at Taco Bell, as per a longstanding promotion; he proceeded to swipe third as well, before scoring.
After the game, while appearing on ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” Betts grinned when anchor Kenny Mayne asked him if he thought about stealing home as well.
“I just needed to get to second so everyone could have some tacos,” Betts said.
The response was Jeter-esque: Clever without trying too hard. Natural. Just like Betts’ game itself, by which he can be the star of this month due just as much to his defense and baserunning as his bat.
Betts, 28, earned superstar status with the Red Sox, for whom he won 2018 American League Most Valuable Player honors, yet he has elevated his profile in his first year as a Dodger, who have signed him through 2032 and who have surrounded the right fielder with superlative talent. Hence, Betts tops my first-ever Face of the Game rankings. Who is best equipped to be a transcendent player, performer and personality who can help grow baseball?
1. Betts: The five-tool player possesses the correct, low-key demeanor for a long run of greatness in Los Angeles, a big market with branding opportunities extraordinaire. Plus, has there ever been an unpopular “Mookie”?
2. Aaron Judge, Yankees: Yes, he needs to play more often and stop visiting the injured list more often than most of us get COVID-era haircuts. The 28-year-old still stands as a singular talent, though, and he still stands really, really tall; you can’t miss him. Never underestimate the power of the Yankees’ pinstripes.
3. Mike Trout, Angels: Yes, the 29-year-old is low-key and doesn’t actively seek out endorsements. Come on now, though. This is all about his team’s chronic inability to surround him with a worthwhile roster. If Trout played on the Dodgers, he’d be far better known and appreciated.
4. Fernando Tatis Jr., Padres: The 21-year-old (!) possesses mad talent and a real flair for the game. Is he already the premier bat flipper? MLB announced earlier this week that Tatis Jr. was the most-searched player on MLB Film Room, a public online video library. Good call, searchers!
5. Bryce Harper, Phillies: If he hasn’t turned into a consistently elite player, he’s a perennial All-Star whose fiery personality clearly connects with people — and he just turned 28. You love him or you hate him, right? If the Phillies ever can put together a sufficient roster, Harper will be must-see postseason TV.
6. Juan Soto, Nationals: Such great skills. Such a dynamic character. Remember when he matched the Astros’ Alex Bregman in last year’s World Series by dropping his bat by first base after homering? That was awesome. He turns 22 next week.
7. Ronald Acuna Jr., Braves: A ferocious talent and only 22. His only drawback: The next person to call Atlanta a baseball town will be the first … and will be escorted out of town.
8. Pete Alonso, Mets: His rookie year of 2019 won’t be forgotten, his power and energy convincing you to order whatever he’s having. His sophomore year 2020? Very forgettable. A turnaround combined with a Steve Cohen Mets revival would put the 25-year-old right back in the mix.
9. Cody Bellinger, Dodgers: If these guys keep showing up in October, there’ll be room for both Bellinger, 25, and Betts to shine.
10. Giancarlo Stanton, Yankees: At 30, he’s the oldest guy on this list and the most fragile, too. Nevertheless, he showed earlier this month just how good he can be when he’s locked and loaded.
Once upon a time, a lot of Teen Mom fans thought he was a decent guy, but not so much anymore.
Because goodness gracious, does he have a problem being faithful.
We’d heard rumors about this before — back when things were ending between him and Kailyn Lowry, there were several rumors that he’d cheated on her.
And then things started becoming clearer during that dark time a couple of years ago when he was juggling Kailyn, Briana DeJesus, and Lauren Comeau all at once.
Remember when he used Lauren to try to convince Briana to move to Delaware with him?
Yeah, it wasn’t great.
He told her that Lauren would move states to be with him, and she did, but only after he knocked her up.
And then last year, he had sex with some girl in his house while Lauren was asleep upstairs with their baby.
It doesn’t get sleazier than that, surely …
Except hold up, because it definitely does.
In last week’s episode of Teen Mom 2, Kailyn was frustrated with Javi because he was being petty about their custody drop-offs.
In her frustration, she revealed that he’d recently tried to hook up with her in the parking lot of a gas station.
But that wasn’t all — she also had texts from him in which he asked her if she wanted him to “slide through” while he was in the area.
She said that anytime he was in her town, he tried the same thing.
After the episode aired, Lauren took their kid and left to go home to Maine, and Javi hasn’t even tried to deny it.
Instead, he’s done this whole thing about needing to change his ways and go to church and read the bible.
But while he may be trying to change right now, there’s a new story coming out about his horndog past.
A past that allegedly involves Love After Lockup’s Lacey Whitlow.
If you’re not familiar, Love After Lockup is a reality show about the relationships of people who have recently been released from prison, and Lacey found love with two felons.
She’s currently married to one of them and expecting a child, but a few years ago she used to do some work in the adult entertainment field, and that’s where Javi allegedly noticed her.
OK, so Hollywood Life tweeted a story about Javi’s new bible study routine, right?
And out of nowhere, Lacey commented with a little story to tell.
“Lmao he’s always been a player!” she wrote. “He used to watch me LIVE on webcam and would snap chat video video himself all while in a relationship.”
“I’m not surprised,” she continued, “he’s just sorry his baby momma put him out on National TV. He played himself.”
She had some laughing emojis in there, so she clearly wasn’t too traumatized by the event, which is good.
Someone asked if she meant that he actually sent her videos of his penis, and she seemingly went along with it, replying with “Girl I’m telling you this was b4 I was on tv. I was just a chaturbate cam model. Lmao.”
Instead of lingering on this new knowledge that there’s a website on our very own internet called “Chaturbate,” let’s just keep things moving, OK?
Lacey said that she’s sure he’s done it to other women, and she added that “he was trying to get me to meet him, such a creep.”
It’s believable, but then again pretty much anything involving Javi and his wandering penis is believable these days.
But he did take a break from the lord to deny it all.
Over on Instagram, he wrote “I don’t even know who that is. Or even what show that is.”
“Look I f-cked up 100% and I’ll take blame for that but these random people trying to get clout ain’t cool,” he went on. “Don’t kick someone when they’re down. Don’t hurt more people for no reason. Not cool.”
He also said that he looked Lacey up on Instagram “to know what she even looks like,” and that “I wouldn’t have entertained this in 2015 or whenever she’s claiming.”
Someone shared his message with Lacey back on Twitter, and she argued that she doesn’t need clout, and if she did then she would have said something about this before she was on a reality show, which is a fair point.
“You’d be surprised how many ‘celebs’ hit up cam girls,” she wrote. “Not putting any names out most don’t get caught n actually pay great, but u know when u beg for free sh-t n your already being outted.”
We’re not super sure what that means, but again, all of this isn’t that hard to believe.
Another thing that’s pretty darn believable?
All the girls in Javi’s hometown that have been saying they’ve messed around with him at his gym.
Look, if he’s shameless enough to cheat while his girlfriend is asleep upstairs, what won’t he do?
